Boronia (Brown Boronia), Boronia megastigma Nees, is a perennial shrub endemic to Australia which produces highly fragrant flowers each year in August/September. Solvent extraction of the flowers produces an extract with an intense, rich, flowery aroma, combining a natural green freshness with the character of ripening hay. It develops the exotic fruit undertones of yellow freesias with a somewhat woody dry-out.

The extract is available as both a concrete and an absolute. The concrete is a yellow-brown, waxy solid at room temperature which liquefies above 40 degrees Celcius. The absolute is a clear, golden liquid.

All Tasmanian boronia production is based on plantation systems using selected clones and mechanical harvesting.
